As a certified shoe seller- I mean shoes for big feet of course😉, I have come across people that complain about their shoes peeling and wondering what went wrong. While there are several reasons your leather shoe might peel, there are also ways to keep them from peeling and today I’ll be talking about how to keep your patent leather shoes from peeling.
Before I discuss, it’s pertinent I let you know what patent leathers are, they are best known for their glossy shine; you know those beautiful shiny leather shoes ‘na ehn ehn na dem’.
So to keep them from peeling or cracking, you—
- Wipe the surface of your shoe/leather clean and dirt free.
- Apply petroleum jelly around the surface of the leather
- Allow the jelly to stay on the leather’s skin for 10-15 minutes, it helps to prevent peeling.
- Wipe away excess jelly with cloth or tissue
- Use a soft brush to bring the patent leather to a high gloss shine
