Managing Stress

Hello family, how are we doing? hope the last week treated us well. For Lagosians, how are you coping with this traffic? I can tell you for sure that if you aren’t careful, the traffic will stress you so much that it will affect your whole day. In fact, anything making you stressed needs to be addressed and managed really fast.

So how can you manage stress? Pretty simple if you ask me but first, we need to understand what stress means. Stress is what you feel when you deal with more than you are used to. When this happens too often or too long, you may begin to experience headaches, stomach upset, back pain, insomnia, sometimes even sickness.

Sometimes, stress is avoidable, when we manage our time properly, find coping mechanisms, take good care of ourselves(eat properly, go out and have fun). Speaking up about your needs and concerns can be really helpful and importantly, rest!

To relieve stress, try to exercise as often as you can, write down the things that are stressing you and how you plan to work on them, do something you enjoy- find a hobby or volunteer.

Stress is not always avoidable but it is mostly manageable and if properly managed, your body will thank you for it.
