The Ideal Way to Care For Your Suede Shoe

Yaay!! It’s week 25 of 52 and I need to tell you that you are doing very well. How have you been faring? hope you have been keeping safe and sane.

While some people have resumed fully and their clothes and shoes are back to work while some others are still working from home. Whichever category you fall under, just know it’s important to take your health seriously as the cases of coronavirus in this country are not reducing.

Just as you are caring for your health, don’t forget your clothes and shoes, importantly your suede shoes.

Yes, suede shoes. They aren’t just shoes you dust when you need to head out, they are eggs that should be treated with care and I’m here to show you how you can care for them.

To clean your suede after a heavy use, brush the surface in one direction with an actual suede brush to get dusts and dirts off the shoe.

To clean water off your suede shoe as opposed to leaving it to dry(leaving it to dry actually leaves watermarks on the shoe), gently dab on the shoe with a tissue paper, apply little pressure till its dry. In a case where it’s not just a spilled water on the shoe but it’s soaked as a result of rain, use a foam, sponge, or dry cloth to soak up the water and stick plain white papers in the shoe to soak the water and help retain its shape. Ultimately, leave the shoe in a well ventilated area to dry.

Storing your suede shoe isn’t any different from storing your other shoes but the only difference is that you can’t leave it open except you’ll dust it daily. It’s advisable you store it either in a dust bag or keep it wrapped in a tissue paper before storing it in a shoebox.

Of course you know you need a suede polish to keep your shoe sparkling.
